Elizabeth Malone joins us in fall 2015 as an intern in the Avenues Interim Mastery program (A.I.M.) in the Lower School. A.I.M. is a one-year site-based teacher preparation program in which interns work with teaching mentors to gain hands-on experience in kindergarten through grade four classrooms, where children spend alternate days in a class conducted in English and in a class conducted in either Spanish or Mandarin Chinese. Elizabeth will be helping in an English class.

Jessi Himmelsbach first joined Avenues in fall 2014 as an associate teacher in an English section of grade one. After spending two years with grade one, Jessi returns this fall as a head teacher in an English section of grade two.
Mark Mollica joins Avenues as an instrumental music teacher in the Lower Division, working with grade five.
Rhoda Aquino joins Avenues in fall 2016 as the head teacher for an English section of third grade. Rhoda has more than a decade of extensive teaching experience in multicultural settings across four different countries.
In fall 2016, Avenues welcomes Warren Tappe as a science teacher in the Upper Division. He joins us from the Cairo American College (Maadi, Egypt) where he spent over 20 years teaching courses such as International Baccalaureate physics, mathematics, cosmology and physical science.
In fall 2016, Avenues welcomes Milena Jimenez as a head teacher in kindergarten, where she will be leading a Spanish section. Milena joins us from Sabin World School, where she was a second grade teacher.
In addition to our new faculty joining us in the fall, a number of our returning teachers are taking on new responsibilities.
Meredith Murphy joined Avenues in fall 2012 and has served as an associate head of pre-K ever since. She first came to us from the Children’s Aid Society of New York, where she began working in 1995 and ultimately became the nursery school director.
Peter Moravetz first joined Avenues in fall 2014 as a Spanish teacher in the Middle School. This fall, he will become a World Course teacher in the middle grades program.
Li Duan originally came to Avenues as a Chinese teacher in the summer immersion camp in 2014 and returned in fall 2015 as a Chinese teacher in the upper grades program. In fall 2016, we will welcome her back as an intensive language teacher in Chinese for grade five.
Kathy Huamaní first joined Avenues in fall 2013 as a head teacher for a Spanish section of kindergarten before becoming head of second grade in fall 2015. This fall, she returns as associate head of third grade.
Siqi (Chloe) Guo first joined Avenues in fall 2016 as a head teacher in a Chinese section of grade one. This fall, she will become head teacher of a Chinese section of grade four.
Sebastian Loza joined Avenues in fall 2015 as an intern in the Avenues Interim Mastery program (A.I.M.). In fall 2016, he will become an associate teacher in a Spanish section of grade two.
Regina Hardatt joins us this fall as an associate teacher in an English section of kindergarten. (In the immersion classes, nursery through grade two, children spend half their day in a class conducted in English and half in a class conducted in either Spanish or Mandarin Chinese).
Stacy Rezos first joined Avenues for the 2014-2015 school year as a head teacher in a Spanish section of the fourth grade. She returns to the fourth grade this fall as a head teacher in an English section.
Daisy Vivar first joined Avenues in fall 2014 as a support teacher in the Early Learning Center (ELC). This fall, we are glad to welcome her back as an associate teacher in an English section of pre-K.
Melissa Pagano joined Avenues in fall 2015 as a co-head teacher of an English section of pre‑kindergarten. In fall 2016, she will return to the Early Learning Center as head teacher of an English section of kindergarten.
Ying Tso first joined Avenues in 2013 as an associate teacher in a Chinese section of kindergarten. This fall, she will now become head teacher of her own Chinese section of second grade.
We’re excited to introduce several new teachers and other staff members who will be joining us this fall. In addition, we’re highlighting returning teachers who will be occupying new positions at Avenues come autumn.
Michael Maccarone first joined Avenues in 2012 as a science teacher and curriculum specialist for the upper grades program, a role in which he has remained since.
